Dr. Klessman

Jay L. Klessman, OD is the senior partner at Klessman and Rosenblatt. As the lead optometrist, in an eye care practice that’s been operating continuously since 1950, he has 35 years of onsite doctoring experience. A 1971 graduate of The Ohio State University, College of Optometry, Dr. Klessman has been caring for eye patients in private practice since 1972.

Named “Optometrist of the Year” in 1994 by the Optometric Society of the District of Columbia, Dr. Klessman has frequently served as a clinical investigator in studies of contact lens products. He also shared his expertise as a member of the original national optometric advisory panel that approved the first laser-surgery therapy for refractive correction. A charter member of the American Optometric Association, Contact Lens Section, he has been a frequent writer and speaker on optometric issues over the years. Dr. Klessman enjoys playing tennis during his spare time, and he’s also an enthusiastic world traveler, who frequently visits other countries with his wife. He is very proud of both his children, and he is totally enamored with his grandchildren.

Michael P. Rosenblatt, OD has spent the past 17 years (since 1990) in practice with Dr. Jay Klessman. A graduate of Old Dominion University and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Rosenblatt has also participated in numerous clinical investigations for new contact lens products, and has published widely in the field. In his role as a laser-vision specialist, he has managed the care of thousands of patients who underwent laser therapy in recent years. An active member of the Optometric Society of the District of Columbia, Dr. Rosenblatt served as its president in 1996-97.

Affable and easygoing for the most part, Dr. Rosenblatt was voted “Young Optometrist of the Year” in Washington, D.C. in 1997. He spends most of his free time with his lovely wife and three children, who report that he’s an “excellent gardener and very good at home improvements.” An occasional golfer, he says he doesn’t get onto the links often enough to rise above the level of “Total Duffer.”
