Frequently Asked Questions: Locations & Logistics

Do you offer Saturday appointments at any of your locations?

To allow our medical teams to rest and maintain clinical excellence, our offices are currently open Monday through Friday and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. However, we offer convenient early morning hours (starting at 8:00 AM) and extended afternoon windows depending on the day and location, making it easy to schedule a comprehensive eye exam before or after your work or school day.

Are there vision insurance differences between the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia offices?

Because our practices span three distinct state jurisdictions, certain regional medical networks or state-specific vision plans (such as localized CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield plans, Kaiser Permanente referrals, or regional Medicaid/Medicare options) may vary slightly based on state licensing and network rules. We highly recommend calling our central billing team or specifying your location choice when booking so we can instantly verify your specific insurance coverage.

Are all three Washington Eye Doctors locations handicap and wheelchair accessible?

Yes, accessibility is a priority at all of our practices. Our Arlington-Ballston location features direct, zero-step street access on the ground floor. Our Downtown D.C. and Chevy Chase offices are housed within modern medical and commercial office buildings that feature fully compliant ADA entrances, smooth pedestrian ramps, and wide elevator cabs that comfortably accommodate wheelchairs and mobility devices.

What should I bring to my appointment at any of your locations?

To ensure a smooth check-in process, please bring your current vision insurance card, a valid photo ID, a list of any current medications, and all pairs of eyewear you currently use—including prescription eyeglasses, reading glasses, sunglasses, or your current contact lens boxes. If you are a new patient, arriving 10 minutes early will help you finish your paperwork on time.

As a long time patient of this practice I have always found the doctors and staff quick to help and respond to inquiries and patient needs. Add to that the fact that the phones are answered by a person, not a bot.... It's a great practice and highly recommended.

If you need a really good optometrist, Washington Eye Doctors is the place for you! Great service all the way around, from the receptionist, to Avis R (technician), Dr. Steven Abraham, and to the eye glass/prescription technician, made me feel comfortable and important. Avis was great, she has been in the practice for more than 30 years!!! Thank you to everyone at Washington Eye Doctors!
