Blue Light Glasses in Washington, D.C., Chevy Chase, MD, & Arlington, VA

With our increased use of digital screens, our eyes are exposed to more irritating blue light than ever — which is why we offer solutions to keep your vision comfortable.

 What is Blue Light?

Digital screens are a major source of blue-spectrum light, which has higher energy levels than other visible light. Similar to how ultraviolet (UV) rays are harmful in large doses, excessive blue light can overload your eyes, causing discomfort and eye strain. Your body is also used to only seeing blue light during the day, so overexposure to blue light, particularly at night, can negatively impact your sleep cycle and cause ongoing fatigue.

How Do Blue Light Glasses Work?

As a locally owned eye care practice, we’re dedicated to providing curated, customized eyewear to help you love what you see — including making sure your screen time doesn’t hurt your eyes. To prevent symptoms such as eye strain, blurry vision, difficulty focusing, night-time glare while driving, headaches, difficulty sleeping, and dry and irritated eyes, we offer a variety of eyewear options. All of our screen protection lenses are designed to block over 90% of blue light waves for maximum comfort, without impacting your vision.

Our High-Quality Blue Light Eyewear

Whether you wear prescription glasses, prefer contact lenses, or have 20/20 vision and only need blue light protection, we have you covered. Read more about our eyewear options below, and please let us know your preferences when you come in!

Glasses Lenses

Our top-of-the-line blue light blocking lenses are available both with and without a prescription. We’re proud to use Lutina lenses, which build the blue light protection into the lens itself and blocks over 90% of blue light, rather than relying on a coating that may not last as long and only blocks 40% of blue light waves.

Contact Lenses

You can still protect your eyes from blue light even if you prefer contact lenses! In addition to non-prescription blue light blocking eyeglasses that you can wear with your regular contacts, we carry blue light blocking contact lenses that don’t sacrifice clarity from manufacturers you know and trust.

Personalizing Your Screen Protection Glasses

Our caring optometrists will take the time to learn about you and your lifestyle, including how much you use digital screens and for how long. We’ll then use this information to find a solution that meets your specific needs. Our Lutina lenses fit in any eyeglass frames, including contacts-friendly non-prescription glasses, so you’ll never have to sacrifice style to safeguard against blue light!

I visited Washington Eye Doctors for my dry eyes. Dr. Rosenblatt is awesome, he is very respectful and professional. Zero pressure when you talk to him. After the treatments, I feel absolutely better. Eye dryness is painful, and someone says it's more like a disability than a disorder. I can't agree more. Before I get the treatments, I can't even sit down and type these words for like 15 mins. Now I am not 100% recovered but at least I could work and study like a normal person. I am still using prescribed medications and I am confident that this problem is treatable. If you have dry eyes, try to contact Dr. Roosenblatt is the best advice I could give.

I have been with Washington Eye Doctors for 50 years since the Katz/Kanstroom days. They guided me through bifocals as a kid, contacts as an adolescent and Lasik as an adult. 25 years after Lasik I still have near perfect vision. I just went back for night driving glasses. Always quick, efficient and thorough consistently over the decades.

A group of kind, friendly human beings. I was visiting Washington, D.C. from out of town, ran into a bind, and this practice was able to help me so that I could drive back home. I am so thankful for their help.

The absolute best choice for dry eye! I had been suffering for years, and now my eyes are drastically better after only three months of proper treatment. Dr. Abraham is excellent. He explains things very clearly and listens to concerns with compassion. I really appreciate his help and cannot recommend Washington Eye Doctors highly enough, especially for dry eye patients.

Dr Rosenblatt has been my eye doctor for many years and worked with me to get my proper correction for nearsightedness. My extra-sensitive system was previously over-corrected and his prescriptions enabled my vision to be more relaxed and stabilize. The glasses are high quality and good fit. I’m especially fond of the nearly weightless frames and lenses.
